Sanibonani, molweni nonke, ngiyanibingelela ngegama likaJesu Krestu, my divine creator.
This greeting carries the exact sentiment I want to share with my fellow artists today. Simply this (please lend your eyes, and your heart, to what follows):
Indeed...you do matter.

2026 is a reintroduction.
A re-grounding.
A rebranding as I—as we—continue navigating this world.
Many of you have known me as 'Kuza and Harmonizeto—spaces through which I have been blessed to share music, collaborate, and explore my creative spirit. This year, I step fully into all that I am.
Having completed my doctoral degree in my lifelong passion, music, I now embrace the title I have worked toward with discipline and honor: Doctor of Musical Arts.
So formally and joyfully...Hello! My name is Dr. Nkululeko Zungu.
In my practice, I have learned not to gloss over how extraordinary it is that an African child born in South Africa, in the year of the country's liberation, would spend the next thirty years of his "born-free" life building the foundation to receive what felt predestined—becoming a doctor in his family.
Even more so in a craft that rarely centers Black voices. (More on that in future blogs).
I have been blessed—and called—to break generational cycles. I share this not to boast, but to acknowledge many of you who are doing the same.
So, fellow artist, as you step into 2026:
Some of you have said no for the first time.
Others have stepped into long-standing family legacies.
Some of you are quietly surviving things no one knows about.
All of you—and I mean all of you—arrived here because of your resilience, your work, your refusal to give up.
I speak from what I know.
Only you understand what it took to get here—The sleepless nights, the rejections, the doubt, the pressure, and the hours poured into your craft. Thus, I return to my opening:
Indeed...you do matter.
Say it quietly to yourself: Indeed...I do matter. Later today, say it out loud. Let your body hear it. Because you must fight the noise that says otherwise: You don't matter! You are not enough! You are insignificant!
Answer it with truth: I. DO. MATTER.
There are two pillars holding this truth for me in 2026:

Your Mind
You have been stitched together by your surroundings, your ancestors, your lived experiences, and your becoming. It is perfectly okay to be who you are right now. You will evolve. OF COURSE YOU WILL. But today? Own who you are. You are not too much. Not too quiet. Not too loud. Not too different. Your uniqueness is your authority rooted in immense power.
Your Voice
Your voice was made to walk this earth. You are meant to connect. To challenge. To heal. To remind others that they matter too.
Don't rush past this.
Because you matter, your neighbor matters.
Use your voice to create meaning. Create beauty. Create disruption. Create healing. Be co-creators with the Divine.
As I write this, I am reminding myself of the same truth: I matter. I cannot say that statement without allowing the tears that hold all the lies I have been told to fall down my cheek. Because knowing that I matter means I get to move and groove accordingly.
Will you join me in 2026 in moving and grooving like we matter?
Because indeed...
You do.
All love,
Dr. Nkululeko Zungu
